Start from question: Why USSR citizens turn back on USSR as a country, as a political infrastructure, political system?
What went wrong in USSR to make it to collapse?
As a former citizen of USSR I can say that main reason to why USSR citizens turn back and let to USSR to collapse was constant struggle with obtaining of everyday life essentialness necessities like food, shelters, outlook for the tomorrow day to the near future.
USSR citizens did not ask for electronics gadgets like i-phone or personal car etc.
Difficulties with obtaining of basic life essentialness necessities, like food, close shelters-housing, clarity for the near future, honesty of federal and local government institutions, let to USSR citizen to turn back on USSR as a country and turn back on USSR political system.
it looks like US as a country took similar path.
